There are some places that stay with you long after you've left.
For me, Nantucket and Cape Cod are two of those places.
Just a ferry ride apart, each has its own kind of magic. One of my favorite parts of every visit is being out on the water. Whether I'm taking the ferry across the sound, kayaking along the shoreline, or attempting to learn how to sail, I feel most at peace with the ocean around me.
These islands have become my creative retreat. They're where I dream up new Auntie Angeline stories, sketch new characters, paint watercolor illustrations, and spend quiet mornings working from my little cottage with a cup of coffee in hand. When I'm not creating, you'll usually find me riding my bike down winding streets, wandering through charming boutiques, or simply soaking in the slower pace of island life.
This summer was especially meaningful because Finley the Fish found a new home on Nantucket. Knowing my little story is now part of a place that inspires so much of my work fills my heart in the sweetest way.
Nantucket and Cape Cod remind me why I created Auntie Angeline. To encourage families to slow down, spend time outdoors, read together, and discover the beauty that can be found in everyday moments.
I hope this little guide inspires your next summer adventure. Maybe I'll see you out on the water.
