How a Small Idea Became Mila the Mollusk: A Children’s Book About Confidence

Five years ago, Mila the Mollusk began as a small idea—one inspired by a desire to create a children’s book about self-esteem, confidence, and kindness. I dreamed of writing a story that would help kids recognize their own worth and feel brave being exactly who they are.

It took nearly five years to bring that idea to life… and now it’s been one full year since Mila the Mollusk was published and shared with families, classrooms, and little readers around the world. Seeing this story help children build confidence and emotional awareness has been more meaningful than I ever imagined.

And the journey continues—I’m already working on my next children’s book.

A heartfelt thank you to Mom Dates and Play Dates for inviting me to read Mila the Mollusk. Getting to connect with children through storytelling and literacy-focused events is truly the greatest joy.

So if you’ve been holding onto a creative idea—especially one meant to inspire others—this is your sign to start. Even small ideas can grow into something powerful. You never know how many hearts your story might reach.
